In this article, we explore the potential of using Long-Range (LoRa) communication in Urban Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) networks, known as Urban VANETs. LoRa is a wireless technology that can transmit data over long distances with low power consumption, making it an attractive choice for IoT applications. We discuss the feasibility and challenges of using LoRa communication in urban VANETs, including its ability to provide high-resolution traffic information, reduce traffic congestion, and improve road safety. The authors conducted experiments in various scenarios, including Line of Sight (LoS) and Non-LoS situations, to evaluate the performance of LoRa communication in urban environments. The results show that LoRa communication can provide accurate traffic information with low latency and high reliability, but there are challenges related to interference management and scalability. Overall, the article highlights the potential of LoRa communication for improving traffic management in urban areas, while also identifying areas for future research and development.
